MAT BOWDENA young man has died after he was fatally injured in a two-car crash on his way to work.Mat Bowden, who is from the Puckeridge area and went to Ware's Chauncy School for a time, was left fighting for his life in hospital after Tuesday's collision in which Adam Waller, 18, of Town Farm Crescent, Standon, died.A police spokeswoman said on Thursday Mat, who had been a passenger in the Ford Fiesta being driven by Adam, died overnight at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridgeshire.Adam had been driving Mat to their jobs at Oakley Coachbuilders in High Cross when the collision occurred between the Fiesta and a blue Honda 4x4 in Ermine Street at about 7.30am.About 15 firefighters from Hertford and Ware found Adam and Mat trapped in their vehicle and used cutting equipment to free them in about 50 minutes.The Cambridge-based East Anglian Ambulance Service helicopter landed on the road and airlifted Mat to hospital.Colleagues told the Mercury welder Adam had helped get Mat a job in the accident and repairs department only a month ago.Tributes at the roadside included flowers, messages a framed photograph, cigarettes, a can of energy drink, a piece of welding, a bottle of alcohol and a miniature boxing glove.
